Detective Chief Inspector Martin Thorpe, leading the investigation, described the attack as “horrific” and urged witnesses to come forward. “If anyone saw this horrific attack or has any footage from the area, please contact us immediately,” he pleaded.

Authorities are particularly interested in mobile phone, dash cam, or doorbell footage from the vicinity during the time of the attack. So far, no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.

Kelyan, an aspiring rapper and former student at St Columba’s Catholic Boys’ School in Bexleyheath, has been remembered fondly by his school community.

The South East London Catholic Academy Trust expressed their sorrow in a statement, calling the incident “senseless violence.” They added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Support will be provided to any affected students.”

The stabbing has once again highlighted the growing issue of youth violence in London. Local leaders and organizations have called for urgent action to address the root causes of such incidents.

This tragic event underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement. Witnesses and those with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Metropolitan Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.

Knife Crime In London

Knife crime has been a persistent issue in London. In 2023, the city recorded over 11,000 knife-related incidents, with youth violence being a significant concern. Mayor Sadiq Khan has repeatedly pledged to tackle the problem, but critics argue that more targeted interventions are needed.

However, community leaders , including members of the UK opposition parties continue to emphasize the importance of investing in youth programs and education to deter young people from criminal activity, advising coordinated efforts to reduce knife-related violence in the capital.
