Biden and Correia e Silva Unite for Stronger U.S.-Cabo Verde Future

EPICSTORIAN – President Joe Biden welcomed Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva of Cabo Verde to the White House today, marking a significant diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

Discussions centered on deepening cooperation, emphasizing the importance of the Cabo Verdean diaspora in the United States, and fostering shared democratic values.

Both leaders highlighted climate resilience as a crucial area of collaboration, underscoring their commitment to combating the global climate crisis.

“Our partnership reflects mutual respect and shared goals,” President Biden stated, reinforcing the significance of U.S.-Cabo Verde relations.

Prime Minister Correia e Silva expressed optimism about enhancing economic and cultural exchanges, praising the Cabo Verdean community’s contributions to American society.

He also emphasized the need for joint efforts in promoting democracy and sustainable development.

Cabo Verde’s Economic outlook

Cabo Verde, an archipelago nation in West Africa, relies heavily on tourism, remittances, and foreign aid. The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted its tourism sector, leading to economic challenges.

The country is now focusing on economic diversification and climate resilience, striving to address unemployment and debt recovery.
