Biden urges Israeli PM Netanyahu to withdraw retaliation against Iran, cautions against war escalation in the Middle East.

A planned retaliatory strike by some Israeli cabinet members against Iran has been put off following a phone call between the Israeli Prime Minister and President Joe Biden.

This is coming in the wake of Saturday night Iranian attack on Israel, where about 300 Iranian drones sent into Israel were intercepted by the Israeli Defense system.

According to The New York Times report, in which it cited US officials, Israel made the decision to attack Iran early Sunday morning, but that plan was cancelled right after a phone call between Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the United States President Joe Biden.

The US government in agreement with president Joe Biden cautioned Israel against further escalation in the Middle East following its successful defense  against Iranian airstrikes and its ‘proxies’.

US officials considered Israel’s interception of more than 300 drones and missiles as a significant strategic victory that may not necessitate further retaliation, reported The New York Times on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, two Israeli officials told The New York Times that Israel’s war cabinet is set to convene later on Sunday to analyse rules of engagement and evaluate a response to Iran’s attack.

As the leader of the world power country, president Biden’s administration is working hard to avoid war escalation in the Middle East and has succeeded in  preventing Israel from retaliation immediately against Iran’s military actions.

This decision was, however, possible because of minor damages caused by the Iran’s attack. But details of the phone conversation between president Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu were not revealed by the officials.

There are tensions that Israel may not take it if Iran continues its military assaults, although the Israeli cabinet members’ initially planned strike was called off following the phone call.
