Berlin, Germany (EPICSTORIAN) — A man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed at the Berlin Holocaust Memorial on Friday evening, police said. Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a hospital.
Law enforcement has launched a search for the suspect, who fled before officers arrived.
Berlin police confirmed the attack occurred around 6 p.m. local time. “The injured man was taken to the hospital,” officials stated in a post on X. “Rescue workers are on site caring for several people who had to witness the events. Investigations are ongoing at the crime scene.”
No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unknown.
Memorial Secured as Investigation Continues
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, commonly known as the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, consists of more than 2,700 grey concrete slabs near Brandenburg Gate. Law enforcement officers cordoned off the site as forensic teams examined the area.
Officials urged witnesses to come forward with any information that could help identify the suspect. Surveillance footage from nearby locations is expected to assist in the investigation.
