CLACTON-ON-SEA, ESSEX (EPICSTORIAN) – A woman in her 40s was found dead inside a house on Skelmersdale Road, leading to a murder investigation.
Officers arrested a man in his 20s, who was hospitalized with serious injuries, on suspicion of murder.
Emergency services responded to a call at 11:30 a.m. after concerns were raised for the woman’s welfare. Paramedics and police arrived within minutes, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Directorate are gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses.
Detective Chief Constable Rob Huddlestone confirmed the arrest and ongoing inquiries.
“Officers were on scene within five minutes of the call and worked alongside paramedics to assist,” he said. “We are committed to establishing what happened and ensuring justice is served.”
A police presence will remain in the area in the coming days.
“We know this incident is concerning,” Huddlestone added. “Anyone with information should come forward and speak with us.”
Authorities are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything unusual in the area to provide details. Forensic teams continue to examine the property while officers conduct house-to-house inquiries.
The man in custody remains under medical care. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
