It stated that the arrested suspects were youths alongsied their herbalists who were found being involved in, Yahoo, internet emotional blackmail, identity theft, impersonation etc.
The offense was described as “bordering on obtaining under false pretence” which is against the Nigerian constitutional provisions. EFCC arrests
“The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 48( Forty-eight) suspected internet fraudsters and herbalists for offences bordering on conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence in Lokoja, Kogi State capital,” it said. EFCC arrests
The herbalists, acting as the fraudsters spiritual backups, would provide their clients with various deadly charms that are capable of hypnosizing their victims to influence their sounds decisions until transactions are secured by the criminals. EFCC arrests
Arrested on on Tuesday, the anti-crime body said the 48 male suspects will stand charges before the court after a few investigative measures have been completed.
“They were arrested upon credible intelligence on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at various locations in Lokoja. The herbalist, believed to be a spiritual godfather of internet fraudsters, was arrested with various charms,” the statement read. EFCC arrests
“Items recovered from them include 10 exotic cars, two motorcycles, 11 laptops, 83 mobile phones and charms.
“The suspects, all male, between the ages of 17 -34 will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations.” EFCC arrests
