#Endbadgovernance: FCT  law enforcement department deny any of its officers could have shot the boy at Kubwa protest ground in Abuja.

Abuja, EPICSTORIAN – A police command in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has denied an alleged killing  of young boy who was said to have been shot by one of its officers at the #Endbadgovernance protest ground in Kubwa.

The FCT Police noted none of  its members would have been responsible for the death of the boy who was gundown on Sunday , August 3,2024 , and said it has launched an investigation into the remote cause of his death.

The yet-to-be identified teenager protester died while protesting in Kubwa alongside friends as Nigerians across the protest against bad governance and economic hardship under the administration of president Bola Tinubu.

A viral footage, according to a report, shows a little boy giving an account of how the boy was shot by one of the law enforcement officers.

The dead boy, according to witness, was not fully part of the protest and was merely passing by when on of the police officers shot him.

According to the young male witness, Some police officers pulled out their guns, pointed them at him and other protesters around, then shooting him fatally maybe to disperse the crowd.

However, in counter response, reacting to the filmed scene of the of incident, the spokesperson of the police command, SP Josephine Adeh, said no officer from the command could have killed the boy who was among a ‘dangerous’ crowd, highlighting they were not responsible for the teenage boy’s death.

Adeh, according to his claim, said the police officers were not issued deadly arms “but with anti-riot equipment not capable of occasioning the death of the teenager”.

‘’In light of the rather infuriated incident, the commissioner of police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, has ordered that an immediate investigation be conducted to ascertain the remote cause of death of the deceased, calling on well-meaning residents to provide the command with necessary information to aid the investigation,” he stated.

SP Adeh, ehile comforting the family of the deceased boy , assured the family and public of justice, noting that  “efforts are i ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of the unfortunate incident.”

FCT Police sensitizes the public on Mischief makers tending to hijack the protest 

 

He added that the police is aware of people who tend to hijack the protest in order  to “exploit the current situation in the country to spread false information and inspire fear among Nigerians”.
