Simon Ekpa’s Arrest Sparks Global Debate on Transnational Activism and Digital Influence

Helsinki (EPICSTORIAN) Simon Ekpa, a prominent and controversial pro-Biafra activist, was arrested on Thursday by Finland’s Central Criminal Police.

Ekpa, who leads the Autopilot faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is accused of orchestrating violence and crimes in southeastern Nigeria.

Simon Ekpa charged on Suspicion of Terrorist Activities

Authorities reported that Ekpa, alongside four others, was apprehended under suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities.

Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, leading the investigation, stated, “The police suspect that the man [Ekpa] has promoted his efforts from Finland with means that have led to violence against civilians and authorities as well as other crimes in the region of South-eastern Nigeria.”

Investigators allege that Ekpa utilized social media platforms to encourage violent actions, contributing to unrest in the South-eastern region.
