Governor Otti’s 2025 Budget Prioritizes Infrastructure, Pledges Sustainable Momentum for Abia State Development

(EPICSTORIAN) – Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has officially signed the 2025 budget into law, allocating a historic ₦750.28 billion to drive infrastructural growth and economic development.

The budget, which earmarks an impressive 82% for capital expenditures, highlights the government’s commitment to delivering lasting projects that uplift residents’ living standards.

The Governor lauded the state legislature for its swift passage of the appropriation bill, emphasizing their thorough scrutiny and cooperative approach.

“This budget gives us the impetus to fire on all cylinders, ensuring Abians live better lives,” Otti declared during the signing ceremony held at the state government house.

He commended the House leadership, saying, “We pride ourselves on being a serious-minded government. The lawmakers’ meticulous analysis and constructive feedback ensured a robust and impactful financial plan.”

Abia 2025 Budget Pushes for Sustained Momentum

Governor Otti dubbed the 2025 budget as one of “sustained momentum,” marking the administration’s determination to maintain progress after a productive first year. “When we say sustained momentum, we mean staying focused on our goals, ensuring we don’t lose pace,” he explained.

Key allocations include the continuation of critical infrastructure projects, such as the Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Abiriba–Ohafia Road, and the Ohafia–Arochukwu boundary link road. The Governor assured citizens that these projects, alongside investments in healthcare, education, and bridges, would be completed by 2025.

Prioritizing Infrastructure Over Recurrent Costs

Reiterating his administration’s infrastructural agenda, Otti revealed the decision to allocate 82% of the budget to capital expenditure while limiting recurrent expenditure to 18%, despite challenges like higher wages from the new national minimum wage and pension obligations.

“This budget speaks to our vision for Abia State. Infrastructure projects outlast us all and define our legacy,” the Governor noted, highlighting the administration’s resolve to transition Abia from its previously dire state into a model of development.
