Governor Uzodinma of Imo State has successfully secured a substantial grant of N1 billion from the Federal Government, aiming to uplift and empower the indigenes of Imo State. Speaking in a statement in Owerri, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Barr, Mrs Oby Amadiobi said governor Uzodinma had been able to attract the grant as a result of his strategic efforts and cordial relationship with the federal government.
Mr Oby revealed that twenty thousand indigent citizens of Imo state will get 50,000 each as part of efforts by the federal government to reduce the impacts of the current economic crisis in the country.
“As of last Monday, some indigenes of the state had started receiving their alert for N50,000 under the FGN presidential conditional grant scheme. This is salutary for our people, ” she said.
“When His Excellency talked about connecting the South East to the national grid of politics with the benefits, he was exactly referring to issues like this,” she added.
