The president has, during the Governorship Forum in Abuja, where he highlighted other eight key points for the National Socio-economic improvement,  directed all 36 states governors to do duties to pay all State workers their salary arrears, gratuities and pensions. The president said “States are now receiving more monthly FAAC revenue” and the “governors should spend the money but not neglect the people”.  Tinubu pleads with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions

He also urged governors, in his statement released on Thursday, to learn from the governor of Kano State in tackling profiteering on a path to ameliorate the impact of rising prices of goods that has presented hardship to Nigerian citizens.

The statement read, “The President pleaded with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions are cleared to put money into the hands of the people, as States are now receiving more monthly FAAC revenue. He urged the Governors to spend the money but not neglect the people.  

“Additionally, the President advised Governors to follow Kano State’s example in dealing with the hoarding of food for profiteering, directing law enforcement agencies to monitor warehouses and prevent profiteering. Tinubu pleads with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions.

Other issues addressed in the statement by the president, include Joint efforts by the states and federal government to fight against insecurity across the nation.

“More police personnel will be recruited to strengthen the force,” the statement further explained.

“Tinubu informed the Governors that the Federal Government will collaborate with them and the National Assembly to establish a mechanism for State police instead of relying on vigilantes in some states. 

“The President charged the Governors to strengthen their Forest Rangers and arm them to keep all the forests safe from criminals.

“Modalities for State police and addressing security issues will be further discussed at the National Economic Council.” Tinubu pleads with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions

The vice president also said, in the statement, that the president “directed State and Federal Governments to collaborate to increase local food production” in order to tackle the effect of rising cost of food.

“Regarding the rising cost of food, the President directed that State and Federal Governments collaborate to increase local food production. He advised against food importation and price control, urging support for local producers.

“Additionally, the President advised Governors to follow Kano State’s example in dealing with the hoarding of food for profiteering, directing law enforcement agencies to monitor warehouses and prevent profiteering.

“The President also charged Governors to focus on livestock development in their States, emphasising on increased production, especially in poultry and fishing. Tinubu pleads with Governors to ensure all salary arrears, gratuities, and pensions
