Imo Election: Do not Release Nnamdi Kanu, Southeast political group told president Bola Tinibu.
Nnamdi Kanu who has remained in faith, even while in the custody of the DSS, as a pro-Biafran Nigerian political activist, was rearrested in June 2021 after his first arrest in October 2015 and subsequent release on bail in April 2017.
Consequently, as matter of long , harsh detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian department of State security, members of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and others in the southeast, by office of the Ohaneze ndi Igbo and other means of expressing their agression, have constantly pressed the government to release him on grounds of peaceful agitation and unlawful violation of his human rights stemming from the previous administration of President Muhammadi Buhari.
Presently, IPOB and others members of the movement including Ohaneze ndi Igbo have continued to seek Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, “ Realizing Nnamdi Kanu will make you a hero of our time, ” Ohaneze ndi Igbo told the president.
However, coming to the attention of the new government for many times now, President Tinibu on Tuesday seemed to have made up his mind to grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, of which the attempt has appeared to have been sabotaged and discouraged by a selfish political set from the southeast.
Mr. Nnamdi Kanu’s Trials, Nigerian executive system and the justice system
Following a series of the reviews of hi alleged involvement in planning sedition against the Nigerian government by the legal authorities for which it is within their jurisdiction to handle such case, Mazi Nnamdi since his indictment on…, under the administration of President Muhammadi Buhari, has been behind bars and fighting tirelessly to regain his freedom.
And, in objective light, his case has been factorized by political interests rather than justice and fair trails as his legal counsel, Mr. Aloy Ejimakor constantly berated the executive system of the country, “Sec 174 of the Constitution says: The Attorney General of Nigeria shall have power to discontinue any criminal proceedings instituted by him.The unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu lies with the Executive not the judiciary.“
