(EPICSTORIAN) — A woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting her 25 years ago has withdrawn her lawsuit.
The case, dismissed with prejudice, cannot be refiled, bringing an abrupt end to months of legal proceedings.
Court Officially Dismissed the Allegations Against Jay-Z
Attorneys representing Jane Doe filed a voluntary dismissal notice on Friday, CNN reported earlier. The court filing confirmed that both Combs and Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) acknowledged and consented to the dismissal.
“The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice,” said Carter’s attorney, Alex Spiro. “By standing up against false allegations, Jay never settled, never paid, and cleared his name.”
Legal Fight Ends After Months of Scrutiny
Jane Doe first sued Combs in October 2024, claiming she was drugged and raped at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000 when she was 13 years old. In December, Carter was added as a defendant, facing similar allegations.

Carter rejected the claims and urged Doe to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil lawsuit. “These allegations are so heinous that they should be pursued in a criminal court if true,” he said at the time.
His legal team made multiple attempts to have the case dismissed, citing inconsistencies in Doe’s statements. In January, they requested sanctions against Doe’s lawyer after further discrepancies emerged.
Combs Faces Separate Legal Battles
Combs remains entangled in legal trouble, facing more than 40 sexual assault lawsuits. A September 2024 indictment charged him with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He pleaded not guilty.

Following the dismissal of Doe’s lawsuit, Combs’ attorneys called it “another case built on fiction, not facts.”
No Explanation for Case Withdrawal
Doe’s attorney declined to comment on why the lawsuit was dropped. While Carter and Combs secure a legal victory, questions remain about the abrupt end of a high-profile case.
