

China’s Wang Yi Visits Nigeria: Strengthening Strategic Ties and Delivering Special Message to Tinubu
(EPICSTORIAN) – China’s Foreign Minister and member of the Communist Party’s Political Bureau, Wang Yi, is set to visit Nigeria on January 8-9, 2025. This high-level visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations and explore new avenues for cooperation.
Wang Yi, representing the People’s Republic of China, will arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday, a press release by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation disclosed.
He will be welcomed by Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, Permanent Secretary of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The visit will include a crucial meeting on January 9 between Wang Yi and Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar. The bilateral talks will address economic partnerships, technological exchange, and other key areas of collaboration.
“This visit underscores the enduring friendship between Nigeria and China,” a Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative noted. “Both nations are committed to fostering stronger ties for mutual benefit.”

As part of his official engagements, Wang Yi will pay a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He is expected to deliver a special message from Chinese President Xi Jinping, reflecting the strategic importance of Nigeria-China relations.

The visit comes at a time when both nations are seeking to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and global diplomacy. China has been a significant partner in Nigeria’s development, contributing to infrastructure projects and capacity-building initiatives.
