(EPICSTORIAN) – A 39-year-old man from Norwich has been convicted of raping another man in Chapelfield Gardens, a popular park in the city centre.
The assault occurred around 11:00 PM on June 10, 2024, near the bandstand. Following a swift investigation, the attacker was arrested a week later.
Idrees Jaff, who denied the charges, was found guilty on December 20, 2024, at King’s Lynn Crown Court after a jury trial. He was convicted on two counts of rape, which brought an end to a case that shocked the local community.

The victim, whose identity is protected, is a male over 16 years old and has shown remarkable resilience throughout the ordeal.
The attack took place in a public park where many go to enjoy the evening. Jaff approached the victim at night, and after the assault, the survivor managed to report it to the authorities. The quick response from law enforcement ultimately led to Jaff’s arrest.
