

ISLAMABAD— Pakistan is witnessing a severe cold spell as Karachi and Sindh anticipate more heavy downpour of rain.
At least 17 people have died due to the long hours of persistent rainfall followed by snowfall and windstorms from last Thursday. Pakistan


The Pakistan DG Provincial Disaster Management Authority said, “At least 17 persons were killed and 23 were reported injured due the prolonged spell of rain starting continuously from Thursday evening in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
However, the Pakistan Meteorological department warned earlier, saying that Pakistan “braces for severe weather accompanied by heavy snowfall and windstorms nationwide from Feb 29 to March 2.
The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) also has said that “Tourists are advised to use precautionary measures” in order to save themselves from hurt.
“Tourists are advised to use precautionary measures and follow the safety guidelines during thronging to hilly areas to save themselves from miseries and untoward incidents to make their journey wonderful, amazing and memorable,” the Pakistan Tourism Development said.
“Despite the cold weather, a large number of tourists are visiting marvellous and popular tourist destinations such as Malam Jabba, Kalam, Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Murree, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan..”
