On Tuesday, independent supporters encouraged protesters to storm the streets, with many having thumbed down requests from President William Ruto for dialogue.
Ruto promised to listen to the demonstrators following his decision to withdraw proposed tax increase, but the young protesters pushed back demanding for justice for those who died in the course.
The protests, which were originally sparked by the Kenyan government’s finance bill intended to raise $2.69 billion (346 billion Kenyan shillings) in taxes, have been led by young people and organized by social media activists.
What Kenyan Protesters Really Want
Over the past two weeks, many protesters have called for attention to the corrupt nature of the “government of Kenya” asking President Ruto to step down.
Ruto’s response to the situation on Kenyan television networks Sunday, where he neither blamed the police for their actions nor took responsibility for the decision by his government, could have provoked protesters to maintain their positions.

A large number of people occupied the capital, Nairobi’s Central Business District On Monday following flyers shared by activists on social media.
But it’s unclear if the movement has any official leadership as no one knows to what extent people would respond to these calls.
The turn out of protesters from some part of the country’s major cities was massive.
