
Return all government official cars, Imo State governor—Hope Uzodimma requests former state appointees
The Imo state governor has urged immediate return of all official vehicles in possession of former State appointees, noting that no political appointee whose public office service has expired should ignore the directives.
According to a statement by the chief press secretary to the governor on Friday 16 February, governor Uzodinma instructed the managing director of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Charles Orie, to take into custody and oversee that the returned vehicles were in good condition. The statement said, “This directive affects all former principal officers to the governor, all former commissioners, all special advisers, all general managers of agencies of government, among others. Imo state governor
“On January 16, 2024, when governor Uzodimma dissolved his expanded executive council, he had directed that the commissioners should hand over their official vehicles to the permanent secretaries in their ministries while the special advisers should submit their official vehicles at the office of the chief of staff.
“While some former political appointees complied with the directives, others are yet to do so, raising concerns they may have ulterior motives. Imo state governor
Uzodimma further asked the managing director of ISOPADEC, Charles Orie to employ all lawful means necessary to recover the officials belonging to the State government.
“Poised to ensure that government directives are respected by all and sundry, Governor Uzodimma has mandated Orie to use all means lawful to extract compliance from the former appointees,” the statement revealed. Imo state governor
