(EPICSTORIAN) — High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, has called for the Senate to treat his wife, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, with dignity amid ongoing tensions with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Issuing a statement on Saturday, Uduaghan explained his initial hesitation to publicly address the matter but emphasized that recent developments left him no choice.

He noted that critical concerns were being overshadowed, diverting attention from serious allegations that should matter to Nigerians who value integrity and fairness.

He reaffirmed his wife’s election as a senator and her commitment to serving the people. He described her as a woman of strong principles, focused on delivering quality representation.

“She is a devoted wife, and the bond we share is deep and unwavering. She has always remained truthful, even in the face of adversity,” he stated.

Uduaghan also revealed that Akpoti-Uduaghan had spoken to him about her interactions with Akpabio, a man he previously considered a family friend.

As a traditional leader, he said efforts were made to handle the matter responsibly, promoting peace and upholding core family values.

Meetings with Akpabio took place in an attempt to resolve the issue, according to Uduaghan. He explained that a mutual understanding had been reached, with an agreement to move forward amicably.

“I personally met with the Senate President and respectfully urged him to extend the courtesy and respect my wife deserves while also honouring the friendship between us. We reached an understanding and agreed to resolve the issue amicably,” he disclosed.

Concerns remained, however, as Akpoti-Uduaghan continued to express distress over what she described as harassment from the Senate President.

The husband voiced unwavering support for his wife, stating that their marriage was built on love and mutual respect.

“I would never trade her for anything, as she is the greatest joy of my life,” he said.

He called on the Senate and Akpabio to ensure Akpoti-Uduaghan receives the respect she deserves while awaiting legal and institutional resolutions.
