Early Life of Ali Bongo And Education:
Ali Bongo Ondimba was born on February 9, 1959, in Brazzaville, French Equatorial Africa (now the Republic of Congo), to Omar Bongo and his second wife, Patience Dabany. He is of Bateke and Teke descent.
As the son of an African prominent politician, Bongo grew up in a privileged environment and was exposed to politics from a younger age.
He attended primary school in Brazzaville and secondary school in Libreville, Gabon, where his father was involved in politics.
After completing his secondary education, Bongo decided to study law at the University of Angers in France. Then a few years later in 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law. Bongo also had a diploma in International Relations from Sciences Po in Paris.
During his time in France, Bongo became involved in Gabonese politics and actively supported his father’s political career. He founded the Association of Young Democrats of Gabon and served as its president from 1986 to 1991.
His early education and gradual involvement in politics fused the opportunity and groundwork for his future role in Gabonese politics.
And soon after the death of his father, Omar Bongo, in 2009, Ali Bongo succeeded him as the President of Gabon.
