Former President Donald Trump has warned against ‘Election Skullduggery’ as voting is ongoing in the 2024 U.S. Presidential election.
Speaking at his campaign rally in Austin , Texas, on Friday , Trump stressed the need to uphold integrity and fairness in the election process, ensuring intense political scrutiny nationwide.
The former president, who asserted that the 2020 election suffered from extensive ‘fraud and misconduct’, said he and a coalition of attorneys and legal scholars will monitor this year’s election closely, promising accountability for any infractions.
Concerns Rooted in 2020 Allegations of Election Skullduggery by the Democrats
The former president, reflecting on the previous election, further stated his belief that “the rampant cheating and skullduggery that took place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election was a disgrace to our nation.”
His claim, however, aligns with previous allegations he and his allies have raised regarding irregularities in that election, allegations which have been heavily scrutinized by numerous investigations and recounts.
He said his team will pursue any actions deemed unlawful to ensure 2024 avoids similar controversies.
Election Integrity and Legal Oversight
Trump warned of heightened scrutiny, which marks his concerns about the future of American democracy.
“I, together with many attorneys and legal scholars, am watching the sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely,” he said, implying that any signs of ‘misconduct could prompt immediate response’.
His words resonate amid ongoing national debates over election security, voter access, and the appropriate role of oversight in modern elections.
Consequences of Election Misconduct
In his statement, explicitly warning of serious repercussions for individuals he believes are engaging in illegal electionary practices, the former president said the ‘law will prosecute cheaters’ when successfully elected in completion of his second term as the president of the United States.
“Those people that cheated will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he said, promising potential long-term prison sentences for those found guilty.
Potential Impact on Legal and Political Figures
Expanding the scope of accountability, Trump added that a wide range of actors involved in election processes, including “lawyers, political operatives, donors, illegal voters, and corrupt election officials,” will not be exempted from the wrath of the law.
In his closing statement, the former president said , “We cannot let our country further devolve into a Third World nation, and we won’t!”
